Michael Young
Michael is Associate Dean for Research in the Jackson School of Geosciences, and Senior Research Scientist at the Bureau of Economic Geology at UT Austin.
He received his Ph.D. specializing in soil physics and hydrology from the University of Arizona and has 35+ years of experience in these areas, as well as in land/energy interactions, life cycle assessment, conservation of water and land resources and environmental geosciences. Recently, he has focused on land alteration and environmental impacts from expansion of energy systems, and on management systems for water data. He recently published a book chapter on environmental impacts from geothermal energy production.
He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and Soil Science Society of America.
