Odessa, Texas—The Permian Energy Development Lab (PEDL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Baker Hughes, a leading energy technology company, marking a significant step in PEDL's mission to catalyze advanced energy research and prepare the next generation of energy professionals.

As a Fortune 500 company with more than a century of experience in the energy industry, Baker Hughes brings valuable expertise and resources to support PEDL's initiatives. The two organizations will focus on identifying collaborative opportunities that leverage the Permian Basin's status as a global center of energy innovation.

"Combining Baker Hughes' commercial and technical know-how with PEDL's research expertise and community networks—that's a powerful mix. PEDL has partnerships across the board, from startups to mid-sized firms, and now a global leader like Baker Hughes. That diversity will help build the next generation of Permian energy professionals and keep them here."

Baker Hughes also supports PEDL's proposal to the National Science Foundation's Regional Innovation Engines program. This collaboration aims to establish the Permian Basin as a hub for cutting-edge energy research and commercialization.

Ross Mitchell, VP of North America Land at Baker Hughes, added: "We're excited to work with PEDL and its academic, industry and community partners. This collaboration lets us leverage our collective expertise to drive innovation that will shape the future of energy in the Permian Basin and beyond."
